  • Bring an apron and small hand towel, if you are worried about dirtying your clothes. You can bring your stencils or blocks for adding texture.

    Otherwise, all the material will be made available i.e. clay, sculpting tools, plastic bowls, etc.

    For carving and stamping, you can bring your own stamps, blocks, or carved designs.

    Note: Firing of objects (at least 5inches in width and length) could be done at an additional cost of PKR 300/- per piece. Both dried & fired objects can be picked up after 2-3 weeks From IVS campus.

    If you're new to this fascinating art form, let’s learn about the wonders of geodes. Geodes are rocks that are found in volcano beds and are known for their stunning crystal formations. These crystals are visible when the rock is sliced open and are a result of various mineral deposits and light reflections. It's no wonder that geodes have inspired the art world and given birth to the mesmerizing Geode Resin Art.

    While real geodes are hard to come by and quite expensive, the art world has found an alternative. By using epoxy resin along with glitters, decorative gems, stones, glass, paints, and other mixed-media, artists can create the same mesmerizing effects of light, colors, shine, and silkiness in texture. This technique has taken the art world by storm and has become one of the top trending art forms, used to create decorative as well as 3D effects to arts, crafts, and paintings.

    If you're interested in learning the basic techniques of geode resin, then you're in luck! Our two-month course will teach you how to add textures on canvas using various low-cost and everyday materials. Creative expression through geode abstract resin is not only limitless, but it's also extremely therapeutic. This course will give you a taste of both, so come and join us on this artistic journey!

Linocut & Collagraph Printmaking

    Printmaking is not understood by a lot of people in Pakistan. And even if you do, you won’t get many chances to learn the techniques, practice and create your own prints. Considering this, IVS-CEP started conducting on workshops of printmaking since 2022 for both children & adults. Until now we are focusing on dry point techniques where taxey glass has edge with the sharp nail to create images.

    For the first time, the instructor is offering a four-day workshop on linocut and collagraph techniques for printmaking..

  • Are you tired of the same old painting and drawing techniques? Want to try something new and exciting? Look no further than the world of printmaking! Here's the catch though – printmaking is often misunderstood and overlooked in Pakistan. But fear not! IVS-CEP is here to save the day with their Printmaking Reloaded workshop series.

    Led by the talented Abdul, who has been a part of the IVS Printmaking Department since 2000, Printmaking Reloaded is a three-day workshop that will teach you the ins and outs of various printmaking techniques. Abdul's passion for printmaking shines through in his work, which has been showcased in group exhibitions across Pakistan, China, and Canada. He even had his first solo exhibition in Karachi in 2018!

  • In this workshop, participants will learn about the various techniques and how to transfer the design onto paper using a press or by hand.     These workshops provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of both linocut and collagraph printmaking, inking methods & allowing them to experiment with different materials, techniques, and creative approaches.

This traditional South Asian ceramic painting technique has been around for centuries and it's time to dust off your creative side and dive into the history and practice of KashiKari.

    In this workshop, participants will not only learn about the intricate details of the KashiKari technique but also get their hands dirty by mixing and blending cobalt oxide and turquoise to create stunning shades of blue.     The students will be provided with basics of Camera and Lighting theory and usage along with practical demonstration.

    Students will learn how to use Adobe Premiere Pro and capture rushes using the right settings. In addition, the process of post-production and how Sound/Editing play a vital role for create a narrative.

    Mary Pots will make the following material available for purchase:

    Goat Hair Brush, size zero for painting – PKR 1,200/-. Feel free to bring your own brush if you already have it. For filling, size 2, 3 or 4 brushes will be required.

    Bisqued Ceramic pot/coaster - PKR 800/- (including the firing cost). You can buy more than one piece if you wish to.

    The painted pottery will be yours to keep and take home. If you want to make your painted piece food-grade and permanent, then Mary Pots will take it for final round of firing and glazing at their workshop. The pieces can be collected from IVS after 15-20 days.

    This workshop will be hands-on experience and you will learn paper making from the scratch. Playing with paper pulp exploring its possibilities, recycle various types of paper. Blend paper friendly materials to create handmade sheets for unique gifts.

    We celebrate the beauty and longevity of both organic or vegetable dying and Block prints, which have truly stood the test of time. These techniques have been around for centuries and are still appreciated today for their vibrancy and uniqueness.

    When it comes to colours, the Ajrak duo of indigo and madder are the superstars, but don't let them hog the spotlight! Vegetables are the unsung heroes, producing a whole range of mustard, teal, greens, and more. Who knew veggies could be so versatile?

    Now, let's talk about the process. Vegetable dying and blockprinting definitely aren't for the faint of heart. It involves multiple washes, filling in the base colour, layering, and even more rounds of washing. But trust us, the end result is worth it! The intricate designs and bold colours will leave you in awe.

    - Preparing the fabric for dying and blockprinting
