    Our instructor, the amazing Dr. Sabir Ahmed, will guide you through the exciting world of animation. First, we'll delve into the different types of animation like flipbook, cut out, clay motion, and even non-traditional techniques! Then, we'll cover the foundations of animation language and design, along with the principles of animation.

    Get ready to unleash your creativity as we learn to do 2D animation by applying effects, adding transparency, animating text, staging, layering, creating a range of actions, overlapping movements, exaggeration, and other processes. And don't worry, there will be plenty of group and individual tasks to give you ample practice opportunities.

  • In this course, we'll be focusing on the nitty-gritty details of creating 2D technical drawings. But don't let that scare you off! We promise to make it fun and playful, while still keeping it academic.

You'll learn how to use the software to experiment with fixture and furniture placement, allowing you to produce the best design solutions for your clients.

  • Welcome to the fascinating world of Kashf-e-Naqsh! If you're a fan of the intricate Naqqashi patterns that adorn Persian and Turkish manuscripts, then you've come to the right place. These signature blue, turquoise, white, and gold geometric designs have been captivating people for centuries, especially on old manuscripts like the Quran.

    Believe it or not, this art form dates back to the 13th century and has its origins in Persia. Later on, the Ottoman Empire put its own spin on things, resulting in Turkish-influenced designs.

    But that's not all - the Art of Islamic Illumination is also about illumination in the literal sense of the word. This decorative painting technique uses gold highlights to bring out the beauty of traditionally Arabesque and floral motifs. The result is a stunning representation of divine forms through natural elements, with a basis in balance and symmetry.

    Now, if you're ready to dive into this amazing art form, this course is perfect for you! We'll start by giving you a historical context for Kashf-e-Naqsh, so you'll understand the significance of the different patterns.

    Instructor: Adnan Pardesy

    Adnan Pardesy is no stranger to Pakistan’s fashion industry. With over 15 years of experience, he is known for his classic cuts, structure of apparel and creative edge. Making his debut in 2007 and showcasing his first collection in 2008 at the Pakistan Fashion Week, Adnan took the industry by storm through sheer creativity and courage to deviate from what was “in demand.” He went on to represent Pakistan in various regional and international platforms in India, Spain, UAE to name a few countries.

    By virtue of his familial roots in textile business, Andan is one of the very few designers who are well-versed with industrial scale production process, the kind of material and proportions used to create a type of fabric, and running a whole business. Though initially Paredesy’s approach was more geared towards showcasing his talent and creativity, he has matured with time. He now believes in a full amalgamation of creativity, craft and commerce, making full use of his technical training in fashion apparel and design along with the insights into running textile business.

  • This is a crash course in fashion fundamentals with three distinct yet interconnected parts – the course will begin with creating an understanding of fashion through research. After an orientation on core elements, tools and types of fashion, you will be taken through a guided research and ideation process.

    Second part will focus on developing your craft and technical skills – practice session on four key patterns needed for garment construction. The third part will focus on design elements including how to go about illustration, fabric selection, volume, frills and trims keeping in view the body proportions and intended purpose of a collection or design. This could will have a balance of conceptual and studio-based inputs and practice. Alongside, you will be introduced to the science of knowing your target clientele, merchandising and the scope of fashion and textile industry.

  • Following is the week wise breakup of the content/topics to be covered in this short course on fashion fundamentals. This is an indicative list since the pace of the course and what can be covered in each session will primarily depend on how quickly the course participants grasp the concepts. Considering that no prior education or experience is required in fashion or design, it is expected that the group participants will be diverse with varying exposure, skills-set and interest levels. Without creating any undue pressure or stress, each participant will be encouraged to cover the full course content. At the same time, their individual learning pace will be taken into consideration and altering their learning path.

Embroidery Embellishment

  • Participants’ introduce with the creative art of embroidery. To develop understanding regarding surface embellishment. To familiarize students with various techniques of surface ornamentation for value addition. To able to make a product with the help of basic embroidery stitches along with mix and match of different material.

    This course is designed so participants can learn or revise the basic stitches and procedures of embroidery.

  • -Hand embellishment on Denim. Using Sheesha as the main element for designing.

    -Mix medium will be introduced (3D Hand embroidery).

    -How to fix the fabric in Embroidery Ring before working on it & Motif for hand embroidery and trace the Khaka on Kurti? The technique to learn hand painting on fabric and embellish it with different stitches according to the trends. Designs could be abstract, defined, floral.

    -Basic Hand stitches with single coloured thread.

    -Hand Stitches with multi-coloured threads, beads, pearls & sequins.

    -Making a Hand painted design on a Dupatta or Accessory and embellish it with French knots, bullion knots satin stitch etc. (students can get the accessory made from outside)

  • Anyone can apply above age 15, no prior experience of working is required.

    The residency aims to create a space for art and design practitioners who want to experience ceramic making and wood firing. It is a unique opportunity to develop work using the highest quality materials and processes especially the atmospheric salt firing. Ideal participants are those who have experience of working in the fields of art and design and aim to extend their repertoire in a truly one of a kind experience. The focus is facilitation of individual projects of the participants. The residency will culminate in a show (dates to be confirmed).

    Time period: Participants will be expected to meet for 8 sessions towards completion of their work, which will be held with everyone together in a communal studio. Participants can work at their own pace in their own studios but will have to complete all work before the firing deadlines. The proposed schedule is as follows:

  • Expectations: All participants are expected to

    -Attend maximum number of sessions and then work at their own pace.

    -Create work for wood firings based on the technical instructions.

    -Finish work in the allocated time and follow the schedule as agreed upon by the curator and participants.

    -Participate fully in all communal processes and be respectful in all communal work.

    -Since there will be only one wood firing and there is limited space in the wood kiln every participant will be allocated equal space. Please keep dimensions of your work in accordance with the kiln dimensions and space.

    -Buy materials and tools where required.

    - Install work in the gallery and follow all standard gallery processes.

  • Welcome to the exciting world of Funn-e-Mussawari or miniature paintin! Our series of workshops will take you on a journey through the diverse indigenous schools of this fascinating discipline, specifically Indo-Persian painting. We'll be exploring the roots of miniature painting and how it has evolved over time.

    Our guide on this journey is none other than Sadiq, a master in the field who emphasizes deep investigation of the processes, concepts, and form within the realm of Funn-e-Mussawari. Sadiq's teaching draws inspiration from Mughal pedagogical models and a desire to establish relevance to contemporary teaching styles.

    But this workshop is not just about drawing on a surface! We'll be diving deep into the process of observing, sensing, and reconnecting with yourself and your surroundings. From preparing the Wasli paper surface to extracting pigments from natural sources, we'll explore the significance of sacred geometry and how it underlies the composition of these beautiful paintings.

    It's important to approach each step with care and to contemplate and meditate on the materials and the act of creating. This cerebral, spiritual, and visual experience will culminate in the form of a stunning painting that you'll be proud to display.

  • The series comprises of three workshops, each focussing on an element or “Usloob”, namely:

    Siyah Qalam (Siyah = black & Qalam = brush): The name says it all! This workshop focuses on the use of black brush strokes to create stunning art pieces. But did you know that the black color is created through a natural process? By burning a lamp under a terracotta utensil, the soot deposits finest carbon on the inside centre and sides of the utensil. This carbon is then collected with a delicate feather and mixed with gum of Keekar (Arabic gum) to create the perfect black color for your artwork.

    Neem Rung (Neem = Partial & Rung = Colour): This workshop is all about using one or two colors to create beautiful and unique drawings. The name "neem" refers to the partial or half use of color, which allows you to create a range of stunning shades and hues. With just one or two colors, you can create a masterpiece that is sure to impress.

    Gud Rang (Gud = Opaque & Rang = colour): Get ready to explore the full range of colors in this workshop! "Gud" means opaque in Urdu, which is perfect for creating vibrant and bold art pieces. With a wide range of colors to choose from, you can let your creativity run wild and create something truly unique. From bright and bold to soft and subtle, the possibilities are endless with Gud Rang.

  • Let's talk about oil painting, the most popular but often misunderstood medium around! While some folks may think it's as easy as slapping on another layer of paint to cover up mistakes, the truth is that oil painting is a highly complex and challenging art form. Between the various techniques, color application, and mixing, it can take a lot of practice and patience to truly master the craft. And that's where our course comes in - we're here to help you learn the ins and outs of oil painting, so you can create stunning works of art like a true pro! So grab your brushes and let's get started!

  • By the end of this course, you will be able to:

    Learn about the medium of oil; preparing the medium and surface for painting, tools essential for working with oils

    Understand and apply different ways of colour mixing, colour balancing, and layering in oil

    Know about different techniques of oil painting and styles of Master Artists (especially Impressionism and Absttactionism)

    Be able to apply at least 3-4 techniques of oil painting including impasto, grisalle and chiaroscuro, but not limited to it.

    Create textures through the use of palette knife, brushes and mixing media.

    Figure out how thickening or thinning the paint layer can create illusion of distance adding a three dimensional element to the painting.

  • This course is your chance to unleash your inner artist and dive into the basics of drawing and painting! We will start with the very foundations of art – lines and shapes. But don't be fooled – there's a whole lot of creativity even in the simplest of lines! We'll then move on to drawing still-life objects, because who doesn't love adding a bit of life to their art?

    But wait, there's more! We'll also cover gesture drawing, because sometimes it's all about capturing the essence of a subject rather than the details. And if you've ever wanted to learn how to draw a face, then you're in luck! We'll be introducing you to the basics of portraiture too.

    Now, we can't forget about the tools of the trade – dry and wet media. We'll explore the strengths and techniques of each medium, giving you an overview of their applications. By the end of this course, you'll not only have a better understanding of art but also the skills to create your own masterpieces.

    Let's start with the basics: drawing from observation means looking at something and drawing it as accurately as possible. So, grab a pencil and a piece of paper and start drawing objects around you, paying attention to their proportions and angles.

    Don't worry if your drawings don't look perfect at first! Getting proportions and angles right takes practice, but the more you draw, the better you'll get.

    Now, let's talk about mixed media! You'll get to work with different materials like charcoal, pastels, watercolours, acrylics, and oil. Each medium has its own unique properties, so it's important to experiment with them to see what works best for you.

    Once you've chosen your medium, it's time to practice application techniques! This includes color blending, strokes, washes, adding texture, and more. Play around with different techniques to see what effects you can create.

You'll learn all about the technical side of firing, bisquing, and glazing, and even create functional pieces like food-safe pots and plates.     You'll get to experiment with different hand-building techniques, like wedging, pinching, slabbing, and coiling, to create basic shapes and forms. And don't worry, you won't just be making cups and pots - you'll also get to try your hand at basic sculpting with clay.

  • In this course, you'll get an insider's look at the fundamentals of this rich and diverse musical tradition. We'll start with the basics, introducing you to the two branches of Eastern classical music: Khayal Gayiki and Drupad. From there, we'll delve into the nitty-gritty of Khayal Gayiki, exploring its two main foundations, Sur and Taal.

    But that's just the beginning! We'll also cover all the key components of Eastern classical music, from Sargam and Taal to Ragas, Alaap, and Bandish. And we'll give you plenty of opportunities to practice what you're learning, with practical demonstrations and training that will take you from elementary to higher levels.

    Of course, no singing course would be complete without some serious vocal training. That's why we'll be providing you with weekly lessons in tuning, vocal embellishments, and vocal stability exercises. We'll cover everything from Vibrato and Vowel Vocal Technique to Diction and Speak Singing. And we'll teach you how to work on multiple facets of your voice, so you can achieve a diverse range of vocal techniques and become a well-rounded singer.
